Overview

We start our journey from Islamabad the capital of Pakistan to Gilgit over Babusar Pass 4173m. Traveling via Babusar pass or on Karakoram Highway is a memorable event. From Gilgit we turn north towards historic Assumbar valley. Asumbar Hoghost is one of the easiest passes to cross anywhere in the Karakoram and Hindukush. The trek is also one of the most linguistically diverse. Along the trail, Shina, Khowar, Whaki, and Burushaski are spoken. This trek is usually combined with least on the other trek. The Panji Pass trek, Punji Pass 4680m links at the Yasin valley’s head to Ghotulti in Ishkoman. The pass is named after a distinctive cairn (Punji in Burushaski) The Pass is also called Ishkoman Haghost by Darkot villagers. it’s also occasionally Ishkoman Pass (as is the Asumbar Haghost to the south.)
