Overview

This safari covers the three great ranges of mountains, Karakorum and western Himalaya. The valleys of Shangri-La, Hunza Skardu- Baltistan. Which is more panoramic and more spectacular with high mountains at the range of 7500m to 8600mm, Indus river-Shayok River- Hunza River – Nagar River etc. Stop at a place, where three empires meet. Drive through the George valleys and high passes meetings with people, the Buddhists and ancient remains from the 11th century to 19th centuries.

Skardu-Baltistan Valley: The rising of Indus stretches down to Baltistan valley from Tibet to Gilgit and down to the Arabian Sea, which cuts the Indian subcontinent from Asia; Baltistan valley is called a little Tibet in the North of Pakistan. Baltistan is situated at the last end of Himalaya, beside Deosai Plain and Satpara Lake. Baltistan the tourist destination of Mountains paradise where the world 2nd highest peak is K-2 (8611-m) and the other 8000m are Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I & II Likely 8068 to 8047m and there are many peaks 7750- 7800m. Its snow-capped peaks and long glaciers give you the spectacular view for climbers, trekkers, and travelers.

Detailed Itinerary

Day-01: Islamabad and Rawalpindi

Welcome at Islamabad airport, and transfer to hotel. Afternoon proceed for city tour of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, which includes famous Faisal Mosque, Shakar Parian, Pakistan monument, Damen Koh, Lok Versa, Museum, Rawalpindi old bazaar, Raja Bazaar.

Day-02: Drive from Islamabad to Chilas

Drive to Naran 239 km, after lunch continue drive to Chilas 3-4 hrs 113 km via Babusar Pass 4173m.
Babusar Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 4.173 m (13,691 ft) above the sea level. The pass is the highest point in the Kaghan Valley, Pakistan. The pass connects the Kaghan Valley via the ThakNala with Chilas on the Karakoram Highway. It’s one of the famous hair pinned roads in the world.

Day-03: Drive from Chilas to Tarishing

Drive to Tarishing 120 km, arrive Tarishing and transfer to hotel.
Tarishing village offers a picture sack view of the Rupal valley along the majestic Nanga Parbat base camps of expeditions climbing route. The inhabitants of Gujjars and Shin used to welcome tourist who has been traveling from 19th centuries till now have had a good experience.

Day-04: Drive from Tarishing to Shoucher Lake

Drive to Shoucer Lake through the panoramic view of Astore valley, which is called little Kashmir, cross Astore River near Chilim Chowki. Where it used to be a Dhak bungalow for the ancient Silk traders in the past, the drive will be totally on the rough jeep road. Upon arrival transfer to the campsite, (70 km- 3-4 hrs) walk around the Lake; see the panoramic view of Deosai Plateau and Nanga Parbat as well. overnight in tents

Day-05: Drive from Shoucher Lake to Deosai

Walk and drive through one of the highest Deosai plateau of the world at the West end of Himalayas, which lies among Himalayas and Karakorum. Deosai plateau offers the beautiful view of Karakoram Mountains, are having a magnificent view of high Plateau, after a few hours walk gets on jeeps to Kala Pani. The 2nd overnight at world’s highest Deosai Plateau is unique because it lies among the two great mountain Ranges, the west end of Himalayas and center of the Karakorum. Overnight in tents with beautiful surrounding hills and snow-capped mountains. at 1400ft, enjoy and explore the area of Kala Pani the black water.

Day-06: Drive from Deosai to Skardu & Shigar

Drive to Skardu via Satpara Lake 50km, arrive Skardu and transfer to hotel. Afternoon visit Shigar Fort, Shigar valley, The Cold Desert, also known as the Katpana Desert and Skardu Town.

Day-07: Drive from Skardu to Khaplu & Skardu

Drive to Khaplu village 90 km, visit Khaplu Fort and Khaplu village. Evening drive back to Skardu. Khaplu village: This handsome village of timber-and-stone houses and precision-made dry walls climbs up a wide alluvial fan beneath an arc of sheer granite walls. Painstaking irrigation has made it a shady, fertile oasis. As you climb its twisting track, the icy peaks of the Masherbrum Range rise on the other side of the valley. It’s hard to imagine a more majestic setting near a public road anywhere in Pakistan. The main attractions are the 2600m-high village itself, the old Royal Place and even older Mosque above it at Chakchun, and the heart-stopping views.

Day-08: Drive from Skardu to Gilgit & Karimabad

Drive to Gilgit along with Indus River 240 km, after lunch continue drive to Karimabad [Hunza] on Karakoram highway 100 km. En- route stop at various viewpoints and at Rakaposhi view point for photography and refreshment.

Day-09: Local visits in Karimabad and Altit

Morning visit Baltit Fort and Altit Fort, afternoon drive to duiker valley 30 minutes. Overnight at hotel Evening walk through the village to Holy shrines, today you will have opportunity to see many local women and men working in the fields. Duiker valley (Roof the world), have a spectacular view down to Karakoram Highway and awesome views of Golden peak 7027m, Rakaposhi 7788m, Ultar Sar 7388m, Diran Peak 7266m, Lady Finger 6000m and Disteghil Sar 7885m.

Day-10: Drive from Karimabad to Passu

Drive to Passu one hour 50 km, en-route visit Attabad Lake, arrive and transfer to hotel. Afternoon visit Borith Lake, Gulkin village, Gulmit village, Passu white Glacier, Passu village, Hussani village and Hussani suspension bridge.

Day-11 Khunjerab Pass and Karimabad

Full day excursion to Khunjerab Pass 4733m, (Pak- China Border) evening drive back to Karimabad. Khunjerab Pass elevation 4,733m is a high mountain pass in the Karakoram Mountains in a strategic position on the northern border of Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan region and on the southwest border of the Xinjiang region of China. Its name is derived from Wakhi ‘Khun’ means Home and ‘Jerav’ means spring water/water falling. The Khunjerab Pass is the highest paved international border crossing in the world and the highest point on the Karakoram Highway. The road way across the pass was completed in 1982, and has superseded the unpaved Mintaka and Kilik Passes as the primary passage across the Karakoram.

Day-12: Drive from Karimabad to Naran

Drive to Naran (355km) 9-10 hours, via Babusar Pass 4173-m). Afternoon local visit Naran Valley. Babusar Pass (el. 4173 m. /13,691 ft.) is a mountain pass at the north of the 150 km. (93 miles) long Kaghan Valley connecting it via the Thak Nala with Chilas on the Karakoram Highway (KKH). Babusar Pass connects Gilgit Baltistan with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

Day-13: Drive from Naran to Islamabad

Drive to Islamabad 239 km, 6-7 hours. En-route visit Taxila Museum and historical sites. Taxila: Most of the archaeological sites of Taxila (600 BC to 500 AD) are located around Taxila museum. For over one thousand-year Taxila remained famous as a center of learning Gandhara art of sculpture, architecture, education, and Buddhism in the days of Buddhist glory. There are over 50 archaeological sites scattered in a radius of 30 km around Taxila. In Taxila visit archaeological sites of Jaulian, Mohra Moradu, and Sirkap. Later visit. Taxila museum: A museum comprising various sections with rich archaeological finds of Taxila. It is one of the best and well-maintained site museums of Pakistan.

Day-14: Fly back Home
